“Thank You JournalPrep.com” – travel grant recipient

Giving back to researchers is something that we do on a regular basis in a variety of ways. Below is a letter from a recent JournalPrep.com travel grant recipient. Funds were provided to this particular student from China to help offset the expenses associated with travel to a conference in the United States.

To JournalPrep.com Travel Grant Sponsor,

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for all the assistance you have provided me during my travel to ARVO. Your assistance has been invaluable to me during this process. This was my first opportunity to attend the ARVO conference, which, according to colleagues, is a world class and prestigious conference.

I am a Ph.D candidate and in my first year at Tongji University, P. R. China. I was so thrilled and surprised to receive the travel grant from JournalPrep.com. What an honor – thank you. It is so gratifying to know that my hard work and efforts have been noticed and appreciated. These funds will help quite significant with many of our ongoing research projects.

Again, thank you for such an important recognition. I sincerely appreciate your generosity.

2011 ARVO travel award sponsored by JournalPrep.com

Giving back to the research community is something that we strive to do. There are a number of ways in which we are already giving back, but we thought it would be great to help out in a way that most companies do not. That is why JournalPrep.com is sponsoring a travel award for this year’s Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“There are researchers that simply cannot afford to travel to international meetings to present their work,” says company President Shawn Maloney, who is actively involved in ophthalmic pathology research and already raises money for the field via Student Vision Canada, a charity that he co-founded in 2007. “That is why we have established this travel award for the 2011 ARVO meeting.”  When asked about sponsoring awards for other academic meetings, Maloney said that the business was planning to do so in the near future. “As the business continues to grow we will do our part and give back to the community.”
